Hello! I'm Deearn Barbara Strawbridge, owner and photographer of DB Strawbridge.
Fine art is a bit of a fancy term for a broad concept which essentially just means, I use my creative ability to make something unique and beautiful for you. I truly believe that portraits are such an important part of the legacy of our lives. The decision to have your portrait taken and created is a decision to preserve your family legacy and connect yourself in a tangible way, to the history that follows you. After graduating with a degree in Media Arts-Visual Arts (Photography) (Hons), having already been in the industry for a long time, I really wanted to create something more than just the ‘on trend’ portraits. In 2020, I began a long journey to discover exactly what that meant. In the months that followed the loss of my Nana, it became clear that what I value most in creating, is life! To the ones we are loved by and leave behind, the ability to feel connected to us and the value of that connection is beyond measure. I am blessed to have my Nana’s memory forever in a portrait, but I have lost loved ones I wasn’t able to photograph and I wish I could go back and change that, and I can’t…but I can change that for YOU! I consider it a great privilege to be gifted the task of creating legacy portraits, each and every one! |
